The latest hobby has become snowboarding. Ever since I went to Mammoth, I’ve been in denial about how shitty I was at picking up snowboarding. There was no way they could all do it and I couldn’t. So after coming back to MI, I set out to learn. It started out with boots. How better to make learning more controlled than to get one’s own boots, right? So we got boots and it didn’t stop there…
Needless to say a week later, I took full advantage of sierrasnowboard.com‘s 40% off everything sale! What perfect timing too since Valentine’s Day was fast approaching and my original gift idea pot is a little dry right now with all these important occasions coming up. So there you have it, lots of money later, we both have our very own set of stuff to learn with. It also helps that during my last trip (trip number 3 since coming back) to the slope, I learned how to link turns!
Anyways, this came today:

w00t!! Finally.
Also, I got so beat up and tired a couple weekends ago from snowboarding for the first time that I planned a trip to Blue Mountain, Ontario to do it all over again. Except this time, Angeline’s coming too!
Lastly, we’ve been working furiously on our wedding website so that we can finally announce it. If you know the domain, you can sneak in and check it out. Otherwise, wait for the launch!
I got my Wii.
I was well prepared I think. Armed with the knowledge that a Toys’R’Us about 25 min away had Wiis for the notorious Black Friday, I suited up in my scrubs (since I might have to go straight to work), my ski-bib, and my winter coat and gloves. The wait at 0315 seemed like no biggie. That was until someone made the first move to get out of his/her car and wait at the door. After braving 30 min in the 25 deg F cold, I was ready for my Wii. I was 5th in line.
In contrast, the people outside BestBuy were nuts. Camped out overnight since 2200 in a line wrapped around the building complete with people selling hotdogs and cocoa.
My first game is Trauma Center: Second Opinion accompanied by Zelda and Rayman. Score!
Check out this video of a revolutionary interface tool.
Jeff Han is a research scientist for New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Here, he demonstrates—for the first time publicly—his intuitive, “interface-free,” touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure. Wow. :shock2:
Pixar, now owned by Disney comes out with their latest summer hit: Cars. Go watch it and you’ll be amazed by all the subtle details they’ve added to make their world of cars real. The ending was hysterical.
Go Guido!
Back in 2001, when I was doing my summer research project here in Detroit, I heard a radio commercial for Jerry Seinfeld at the Fox Theatre. It was sold out. I was bummed.
Here I am 4 1/2 years later and Geline buys me tickets for…Jerry Seinfeld at the Fox Theatre! Sweet huh? That’s what I get after nine years.
