The shroud is lifted, the helmet lowered

Filed under: Exciting @ 2:45 am

Star Wars

The circle is complete and we discover how the force relentlessly links everything together.

We knew what happened but now we know the details. Our curiousity of the force is satiated as Lucas reveals to us some of the finer subtleties in the world of the Jedi. Yet the viewer’s imagination is not completely stifled as that familiar opening shot and invigorating score bring us back to that childish awe that first captured us. At the end, we magically find out how everything begins and a new hope is born. Prepare to be amazed by the power of the force.

Balance will be restored, the prophecy fulfilled it will–and the allure of Star Wars will never die.

Yesterday…

…all my troubles seemed so far away.

Now I have to study.

It took us another 10 and a half hours to get back. But not before stumbling upon the birthplace of KFC in no other place than the peculiar state of Kentucky; and certainly not before being almost run off the hwy by a U-Haul at 85 mph. Kentucky offered some other amusement with it’s weird names: there was a Stinking Creek and a Big Bone Lick National Park among others. I wonder if it has anything to do with KY Jelly.

Thanks to Jason for his southern hospitality (but he says he’s from Cali and doesn’t have any) and Tony the kazoo (clip) and Brian for flying out a mere 12 hours after they decided to come.

The disease is spreading

After 10 and a half hours we finally arrive at Jason’s pad. We were welcomed by the Atlanta morning rush-hour reminiscent of LA area traffic.

The disease has spread and Tony ended up booking an early morning flight for him and Brian.

We’re gonna get krunk hotlanta style tomorrow. Who else wants to meet us here? :drunk:

Freshly ground coffee every time

Filed under: Exciting @ 12:26 am

My friend kept raving about this crazy vacuum coffee maker he has so I got enticed. So we picked up this coffee maker after reading some quick reviews at Amazon:

Melitta Mill and Brew

I know it’s a “lousy” drip coffee maker but, it’s most attractive feature is the fresh grind and it was the cheapest one with it. You can load in whole beans and it will grind them for you before it brews the pot! You can even program it to make your coffee before you get up in the morning. So after we bought this, we went straight to Birmingham to find some beans. We went into 3 coffee shops and ended up with 2 packs of beans to christen our new machine. Now we can enjoy Starbucks (Colombia Nariño Supremo) at home along with a decaf hazelnut from the local Java Hutt.

The first brews are excellent! Let’s hope this machine can dampen the urge to go for a separate better grinder and brewer. :jittery:

Last lecture of 2nd year

Filed under: Exciting @ 7:49 pm

Wow, today was the last day of lecture for 2nd year. The more I think about it the more profound it seems. And the more I think about it, the more I dread the next month and a half of board studying. Still got 2 more exams though before it’s officially over for this year.

Mac OSX Tiger available

This headline reminded me of my “emulation” on my lappy. So I checked the forums and found an updated version of FlyakiteOSX v2.0. Here’s a screenshot of my desktop now:

FlyakiteOSX v2.0

If anything at least check out that website. It’s the most unique site I’ve ever seen.

Another unique program I’ve stumbled upon was this little program bundled with v2.0 called RKLauncher. It’s still in beta but the author releases nightly builds that I’ve tried. RKLauncher (nightly) emulates the launcher from Mac OSX. It’s the thingy usually found at the bottom of the desktop that allows you to launch programs and magnifies when you move your cursor over it. It’s also dynamic in that you can have “docklets” that show the weather, battery power, or even daily comics (I have Calvin and Hobbes).

Kung Fu Hustle

“This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time.” — Angeline
“LOLOLOLOLOL!” — Me

Go see it. I finally got to see the rest of the movie after I watched part of it on Jason’s scratched up DVD.
