The past couple months have been pretty busy. So far I’ve been averaging just under 80 hours/week and sometimes 30+ hours at a time but I can’t complain compared to other stories I’ve heard. Right now, I’m so lazy that I can’t even think of a good title for this post.
More importantly though are the crazy fires of late. I can’t even fathom the devastation to thousands of families out there now. I went berserk when someone just broke in to our place in MI. I love Santa Ana wind season, but we need more weather like in my previous post. :sad2:
On a lighter note, I took one of those retarded personality quizzes linked on RiKa951‘s Xanga which means I’m pretty retarded too. Drumroll for the results:
Which Peanuts Character Are You?

You are Schroeder. You are brilliant, ambitious, and brooding; you tackle tasks with extreme focus. People don’t always interest you as much as other pursuits, though, so you can come off as aloof. |

I just realized that I haven’t actually seen rain since I left Michigan in March. In fact, it was raining in MI the day I left.
I kinda miss the changing weather a little now that I think about it; I’m even looking forward to the fall and winter. Sometimes, I wish it would snow here a little during the holidays. :crybaby:
If you look closely at the forecast, you’ll notice the sunny days will return shortly. But that’s cool too…for now.

OMG. I thought it would never happen, but it did. According to my previous post, this could never be possible, but Nikon has done it. Nikon has just announced the new full frame D3 with the FX format sensor and its little brother the D300! The D3 is set for a $5000 retail price with ISO sensitivities up to 25,600 thanks to its huge photosites! But the D300 is more in my range at $1800 with most of the same features including the new CAM3500 style autofocus module…drool.
Behold, the new Nikon D300 with optional but sexy vertical grip:
Notable features I’ve been waiting for in a single camera:
- 12.3 MP
- Pro level autofocus with calibration
- Self-cleaning sensor
- CMOS sensor with up to 6400 ISO
- 6 FPS up to 8 FPS with grip
- 3″ VGA LCD
- Live view with phase or contrast focusing
- Active D-lighting
- New metal vertical grip
- Moisture seals
- Big viewfinder
- And many more!
The D3 and D300 are both set for release in November 2007.

The worst part about being a tech freak is illustrated perfectly at the below link. This comic gives us a view into all the companies we love to hate.

T’was a great movie. Lots of classic Simpsons slapstick, but also lots of classic Simpsons intelligent humor too. Sadly, though, there is no “couch gag” at the beginning. Boo!

…is tomorrow. They tell us that we normally go from 6 to 6, 6 days out of the week. As transitional interns, we don’t take call on this service so we have to work one weekend day each week. They also said this isn’t as bad as the other ward months so I hope they’re telling the truth!

Today was my first day at the hospital since my interview last December. I had to get fingerprinted and get my ID badge. So thinking I want to look professional in my ID pic, I get all dressed up with a shirt and tie.
Took a little while to find HR for the fingerprinting but after that I was all set to take my picture. So I walk to the main hospital from the HR bunker and had take everything out of my pockets, my belt, and my watch for the metal detector.
Finally, I make it up to the 8th floor. I’m ready to take my picture up against the pale blue wall and the nice lady actually comments that I came prepared for my ID pic. My picture looks pretty nice, I thought. Sweet! Until she takes her little cropping tool and crops everything out except my face and the very top of my collar! :wallbash:
